William Oxley Thompson Library - S & E sides

I visited the Ohio State campus November 1, 2015, with Ruth Ann (her first visit) and two of my three brothers an their wives (Jim and Claudia, Ted and Beth), my first time on campus in more that 25 years; besides walking around the Oval, went to two areas just off the Oval: (1) Wexner Center & Mershon Auditorium at the NE corner and (2) Mirror Lake at the SW corner. At the end of the afternoon, we stopped at Ohio Stadium (much expanded from my years on campus). Larger trees blocking views of some buildings along the Oval were among the noticeable changes. William Oxley Thompson Memorial Library, OSU's main library, named for 5th president, who served 26 years, 1899-1925; original building dates from 1913, enlarged 1947-51, enlarged again 1977 & 2009; newest addition is on W side, which, sadly, we didn't see; March-April 2016 OSU Alumni Magazine says, "During the 26 years William Oxley Thompson led the university beginning in 1899, enrollment climbed from 1,149 to more than 10,000 and the number of faculty grew from 98 to 734. The size of the campus nearly tripled, to more than 1,100 acres, and the number of buildings climbed from 15 to 68"; also, "Gifts from the classes of 1923, 1925, 1926 and 1928 make possible the iconic bronze statue of Thompson on the Oval"
