Jerusalem Mill Village, part of Gunpowder Falls SP, is most intact historic village in MD, with mill, cooperage, blacksmith shop, & other buildings; site of 18th & 19th century Quaker settlement; mill opened 1772 as Lee's Merchant Mill on N bank of Little Gunpowder Falls (stream name), center of 18th & 19th century Quaker community, operated ~190 years, acquired by state 1961 to be part of Gunpowder Falls SP, now park's visitor center & HQ; Jerusalem Mill Village on National Register of Historic Places 1987 (87001400); short distance downstream, Jericho covered bridge takes Jericho Rd across Little Gunpowder Falls; bridge on National Register of Historic Places 1978 (78001444); village (Harford Co) straddles Jerusalem Rd E of Kingsville (Baltimore Co) & W of Jericho Rd; Jericho covered bridge (both counties) on Jericho Rd short distance downstream from mill on Little Gunpowder Falls; bridge built 1865 after Civil War with Burr arch & multiple-kingpost trusses; major rehabs in 1937 (when queenpost truss was added for more strength) & 1983 (steel reinforcement under bridge deck); single span, 87 ft 10 inches at center, plus 6.5 ft overhang of sloped portal at each end; one of six remaining covered bridges in Maryland
